egg size

how much smaller is a silkie bantam egg to an australorp. i think i have a silkie starting to lay. not sure though. ive had chooks at a couple of houses but never bantams.

My friend gave me a bunch of silkie eggs to hatch along with my cochin eggs and I remember them being half the size of my eggs. I looked up Australorp chickens and they seem similar sized to my cochins. Also remember that a chicken's first eggs are usually smaller than normal. They are more like practice eggs.

Its a bit hard to tell as I think all my girls have been laying for a few weeks. Enough that I have eggs to give to friends and neighbours as well as having plenty of our own to eat, This egg was definitely smaller. But not half the size. Maybe it is from one of the big girls. Thanks for the input.

My bantams are pretty small, about half the size of a regular egg.
