Both eggs came from my flock of New Jersey Giants, both hens are the same age and fed the same diet.
The large egg was not a double yolk.
They have lots of water and food.
I don’t really have a concern but I wish I knew how to make the egg sizes more consistent.
This often occurs with my girls. There are over 40 in the flock.

Did you breed these chickens yourself? It could be a matter of genetics. Even same breed hens can lay different size eggs. That said, that is a mighty big size difference for any one breed. Look up the weight of the eggs for your breed and see if you've got a couple of under sized and oversized eggs there. It happens, but the average should be the weight of the breed.

The layers in the flock came from a very reputable hatchery.
According to my Reasearch, NJG lay big mediums to large or XL eggs. So in the range of about 55 to 65 grams (give or take).
