Today I went to get my eggs out, fairly fresh to make scrambled eggs and as I cracked my last egg open, PHEWWWWW, the smell was overwhelming. It smelled like real strong ammonia, so much so that if affected my taste buds as if I dissolved a pill in my mouth. It took forever to wash the smell off my hands. Most of the time a bad egg will have that rotten smell. I was not expecting this. What would have caused it? Now I am turned off from eggs and scared to run into this again.

I've gotten a few of those eggs over the year. Not sure what causes it. I've read certain feed additives can be the cause, or certain plants a hen consumes.
