Egg snatcher

My hen has layed 6 eggs in her nest but every night a few go missing. Some times the whole egg somethimes just the yolk. I set a live trap and put the remaining eggs inside but to no prevail the egg was gone and nothing was trapped

So the egg was inside the live trap, missing when you checked it and the trap was not sprung? Is the trap faulty?

Well if your trap is one for a coon/fox. Then a rat or snake could easily go though one of the holes. Coons also will reach in and grab the food.

What size trap are you using a ( 0-1-2-3-4 ) or a box trap ????

Some time ago I had a thief in the yard who did not set of any of my traps sizes 1, 2, 3, 4 so I started sitting at a distance looking for this egg thief and time to time it would tack one of my 8 week to 12 week old chicks so I put out a lot of bacon and low and behold with in an hour of sun set out came a cute little FOX eating out of the traps and around them with out setting them off and the little @&*%$*#! was steeping in and on the traps before had to use the 12 gauge to end this problem ...

Now a size's 1 and 2 are very sensitive but that fox was also very
light on the toe's .......

If you could get one of them game cameras it just might catch the
thief in action .....

Ah a oppusom. That almost looks like a squirrle/rabbit trap. But you got him so that's awesome!

Oh ya we had one of them as a pet when we were kids and that little thief is swift but look cool in the wood shed when ya take one new out to get some wood and he pops up to get some food and scare the day lights out of the unsuspecting individual but not good as a non pet around the house ....

And they do love the egg's pancakes spaghetti just about anything of the table including dog food if they are board ...
