Okay, thanks! I have forty other hens LAying so I'm not that impatient, I just read they started laying before silkies which is what I'm used to so was expecting an egg a lot sooner.
And meant to ad, one of the Roos mounted the biggest hen yesterday. Does that just mean he's mature, or possibly mean she may lay soon?

It could be possible,, but don't be disapointed if she doesn't. I breed cochins as well,, and some of them can go as long 30 weeks before starting lay,, even longer sometimes. The end results are well worth the wait though,, gorgeous birds and huge eggs

Okay! I've only ever had bantie Cochins before and they all started laying earlier. Maybe just a bantie thing though.
Guess I'll just wait it out, but the wait is always hard! These guys are getting huge and I can't wait to have some eggs that take less than four to make an omelette, lol!
Silkies are so sweet, but finally went and got some bigger chickens in January. Oh yeah, day old peeps in the middle of winter. They were in the hours for a LONG time!
But one day the first egg will make it all worth it
