Egg song

Ohhhhh I guess that’s what my rooster was doing! I thought he went in to tell them to shut up lol. What he actually said was “ I’m here! For all things holy I’m here! Now please hush!!” And imagine him grumbling under his breath “have to come in here to escort them 5 feet to door.. never get any peace around here..Gomez get me worms, Gomez there’s a hawk, Gomez escort me out of the coop…everybody wanting “affection” what am I? A machine?!?”
Poor Gomez, what goes around comes around 😆. I'm going to use Gomez, I really liked the English indie band, Gomez, back in the day.

Agreed Gomez the band was decent. Buuut my little dude is name after Gomez Addams. His flock mate is Morticia and their kiddos are Wednesday and Pugsley. ( although I’m pretty positive they belong to 2 other roosters). Both parents are white and the babies are jet black and silver. *who’s gonna tell him*

I keep imagining the hens calling for a rooster escort and looking at the little guy when he shows up and saying, "Dang it, him again. When is a REAL rooster going to show up?

Sandy has been laying eggs every day since Friday 15th. The eggs look like traditional cream and brown spotty eggs. Her song is not beautiful though she is very noisy before and after laying and she is incredibly high-pitched. Ear shattering!!! Will she always have this "song" or will it change as she ages?

My other guaranteed hen started laying on Sunday 17th and her song is beautiful, she chirps and is not high-pitched. Sandy's song drives me mad. She sounds like she's being murdered.
I feel your pain as I experience it myself, but I can not help laughing also. I hope her song is ease as time goes on, but I am afraid that will not be the case, hope is the only thing left.

Alternatively you can distract her with treat when she sings her egg song, that is what I do. It does stop, but reduce the frequency because when food into the mouth, she can not scream as loud. She does scream with the mouthful, but still scream. The egg song got shorter.

I never understood that. If I was laying eggs, and predators ate the eggs (and myself) I’d lay quietly. Why do they announce it to the world?!
They want the world to know they did it!!! The whole flock knows where to lay their egg next.❤️
Could be for us human to know they did it, they paid their rent, they poop breakfast:lau

It’s crazy! The hens love my little guy. They have choices, from him being my smallest to my biggest a 15lb jumbo. (And many in between) the ladies prefer Gomez. I watched one of my other roosters buck up on him, and my hens ganged up on the other rooster. Gomez never had to ruffle a feather. It’s like choosing George Costanza over Jason Momoa. 🤷‍♀️
