I went to pick my 2 and half old pullet and as I held her she SQUATTED!!!

Should I be expectinga small egg sometime sthis week or next? She lives with big hens and a roo,and a few cockerals and broodies.

2 and a half months is way to early for a pullet to start laying. Generally she will start laying at about 6-8 months old. She may be doing what I call the egg squat which means that soon she may lay an egg or the rooster is courting her or the other hens. What breed is she? Sometimes it depends on the breed for when she starts laying.

Well wyandottes tend to do that but not that early. If she does lay that early it would be a super small egg and it would hurt her.

Do you have added lighting like a lamp where she sleeps? That could cause early laying in pullets.
