Forget squatting. What about the sumo shuffle?

You know what I'm talking about, right?

It's a blend of sumo stomping and Elaine from Seinfeld.

Pullets will sometimes do it in the nest box when they're getting ready to lay. I only have a sample size of two, and both gave eggs within 48 hours. Now my cochin bantam's on deck.

How soon do you normally see eggs post shuffle? I ask because she started up at 8pm in the nest box, and then slept there. I want to keep it open for her overnight, but not if it's some massive bluff that leads to a bad habit.

She started squatting the day before shuffling.

Thanks!

I've seen both, the shuffle and the squat, and then nothing. I think some feel the need to practice. They've got a string of tiny eggs inside, and they grow in order of which one's getting laid first. My guess is they feel that one coming, but are clueless on when.

Sounds like the day after eating taco bell and not sure which fart will be the fatal rush to the bathroom one

For reasons that I will never, ever understand, I always want to go to Taco Bell after a colonoscopy. And I NEVER go to Taco Bell otherwise.

(Apologies for the TMI!)
