Egg-stealin' Feral Cat!

The easiest solution would just be to feed the poor thing. (I'd also be tempted to capture it and take it to the vet for a rabies shot and a spay/neuter, but I could get that done for under $50 here.)

You did good. The cat probably will be put down, but really in cases like this it's a kindness.

Sometimes feral cats can be rehabbed, but it really depends on the individual animal and often times on how long it's been feral. Depending on your area they may observe it for a few days and give it a chance if it doesn't seem to crazy wild after it's had a chance to settle down. The worst of kitten season is past so that is one thing in its favor, but even if that's not the case I truly believe that humane euthanasia is better then it trying to make it thru the winter on its own.

----On soapbox----Please, please, please, spay/neuter! Cases like these are terribly sad, but watching healthy adoptable animals be put down simply because there aren't enough homes is absolutely heartbreaking. ---off soapbox---

I fed and watered it last night, since it was too late to go to the pound. It couldn't make up its mind - hiss and get all defensive, or purr and head butt the cage and act all lovey. It is a bit boney, not too much. Good healthy coat from all those eggs. Fed and watered again in the morning - it had chewed up all the plastic tubs for food and water. Made a guilt donation to the shelter after dropping it off with the cage.

Its so frightened of people walking up to it - I just want to kick whoever's abused it so.
