I am a teacher and I am incubating chicken eggs. Today is day 16, and I won't be able to get back into the building until day 20. Is it ok for me to turn the turner off before I leave school today? I am worried that if I have early hatchers they could get hurt. I am hearing no peeps yet. Do you think I will be ok to leave it until Tuesday, or should I turn it off today? I also know I'm not supposed to open after day 18.

It is fine to go ahead and shut off the turner on day 16. Studies have shown that early during incubation, turning the eggs is critical. Late in incubation it is not critical since the fetuses do a lot of moving on their own.

Good luck.
