I recently purchased a Janoel 8-48 incubator, and I'm having problems with the eggs hatching out right. I did some inspection on it, and I noticed that even though the egg turner does work, it goes back into the starting position instead of staying to the opposing position. My question is: Will this effect the health of a hatchling? All input is welcomed.

Thanks

Most turn so that opposite sides of the egg end up on top. If it is only putting one side up and alternating with the large end then the early embryos probably aren't getting enough nutrition.

Thank you, That's what I thought. I wished there was some way I could fix it. I really wanted to get these things filled with eggs.

Hi, I have that type of incubator, and it only tilts the eggs back and forth. They never fully turn (the fat ends stays up the entire time). I read that's how its supposed to work, and in fact its good for shipped eggs, since the air cell is up for the entire incubation. Hopefully that's true. I am on day 7 of my first incubation. I have checked 5 of my eggs, and so far all 5 are doing great. I hope the "tilt" is enough to keep them going. Also, my incubator rotates/tilts in 3 positions (tilt left, tilt right, straight up). When it goes to the straight up position, it first tilts to one side. Maybe that's what you are seeing? Mine definitely stops for 2 hours on each side as well though.

It seems yours is functioning correctly. I have an incubator of a different name brand, and it tilts left, straight up and down, and then right. I supposed that this one should have done the same, but instead it goes through the whole cycle and ends up back where it started from. I'm afraid to put eggs in it acting that way.

I have the real deal janoel 8-48, and I was curious about the turner, first time I used it, the turner would stop on three positions, right 2hours, straight up 2 hours, then left 2 hours, at least how I remember it, but now seems does a full rotation then back to starting position...I tried holding reset button, but still every turn every 2 hours goes right back square one, I hear a relay switch in control panel, wondering if maybe the switch has gone bad?? I too am afraid to put eggs in now , but lucky I have an old turner from old Styrofoam incubator I'm gonna slap in on next batch of silkies, personally I think it's malfunctioning it's older been used alot. Alot. And my last two hatched were bad, like 15 percent , before that I was at 75 80, so I wonder if not turning and stopping left up and right is the problem ??
