2 hens with unknown cause of death. Should I toss the flocks eggs for a while in case others are sick? (All appeared fine and still do before the 2 died).

Are there certain things like mites, lice, coccidosis, ect? That egg withdrawal is required for without treating( I know when giving meds there is sometimes an egg withdrawal period)?

If so how long should I toss eggs for?

Sorry about your 2 girls.

The eggs from your remaining layers are just fine to eat. Withdrawal periods are necessary when a layer is given a wormer or antibiotic that then gets deposited into the egg at a concentration higher than what has been determined to be safe for human consumption.

How long ago did you lose your hens? How old were they and what were their symptoms? What and how are you feeding your flock?

Lost them 2 days ago. 2 year old black sex link found dead in the run and a 7 month old Easter egger found dead under the roosting bars in the coop. Zero symptoms. They were up an moving/eating/drinking fine the day before. Also found a dead bird outside the coop. Which was strange. The remaining 14 hens and 1 rooster seem fine. All eating and drinking okay and are active.

The dead hens I found after letting them free range for 90 minutes. But they may have died before that I ran out opened the door to the run and went back inside without paying much attention. No visible wonds or blood on any of the birds.

If any others die suddenly like that you really should send the body for necropsy as you might have something that could spread through the rest of the flock. With no symptoms and the varying age range between the hen and the pullet, it's anyone's guess why they died.

They get all flock feed with oyster shells on the side and scrach with black oil sunflower seeds mixed in about once a week.

I've been checking on the rest of the flock a few times a day and haven't seen anything strange yet.

When would it be safe to assume that this was just a weird one time thing where 2 hens and a random bird died? After 2 weeks, a month? I've never had hens die without being able to figure out why before.
