Four of my six hens have been laying for about a week and a half now. I have gotten 4 eggs a day, but one once had a peck hole in it. I threw it out and noticed that there was no yolk. I have been getting 3 eggs a day for the past 2 days, but the eggs and nesting material have been covered in a clear, sticky liquid. I suspect that one of the hens is not developing any shell at all, as I have not found any shell fragments. They are still eating Purina start and grow because I have some left over. As soon as it is gone, I will switch them to layena. Any thoughts on this sticky matter?

do you have oyster shell to offer? if not, crush up some old egg shells and feed those on the side...they need more calcium...and it is normal, they need to get the machine inside working correctly...get them on layer feed....(offer oyster shell till you get some)
