I have 2 Delaware that will be laying at any day now. The past couple of days I have been finding egg yolk in the nest box and once under the roost bars. No shells like a broken egg, just yellow yolk. Yesterday Jenny had yellow on her side and breast. Not a lot, but enough to notice. Do you think they (she) are laying soft shelled eggs or shell less eggs or do I have an egg eater on my hands?

I know the new layers are a little clumsy in the boxes and they may have accidently stepped on or sat down too hard and broke one but Im not finding even a little piece of shell.

New layers will lay soft or no shelled eggs. Just make sure you have plenty of oyster she ll for them throughout the day.
