eggbound RIR hasn't passed egg yet.. advice?

Just got off the phone with our vet. It will be $99 just to have the exam, but he offered to have a vet tech teach me how to give her a KY jelly enema to try to move things along. i don't have the home equipment to squirt enough goopus up her to move an egg along. He would be able to diagnose what he thinks may be going on: peritonitis or tumors (which he implied that he recommended against treating), or eggbinding, which he thought I could deal with myself. I think I will take her in.

Wow, it doesn't cost that much for my dog to go to the vet! If you do take her in, please let us know what he says. Hope he knows something about chickens.

Wonder why he says don't treat peritonitis? (Tumors are pretty much non-treatable, I'd think)Could be because hens prone to that stuff always relapse, I suppose. Ivy has almost died twice, but penicillin saved her both times and she may just see her 4th birthday now.
