Have a Moran named frenchie who may possibly be egg bound. I have her inside-soaking in Epson salt 3x a day, giving all different kinds of vitamins. She pooped -But no egg and its been 2 days. Eating very little. Making her drink water. She just lays most of the day and cannot stand much. Dont see mites. Any other suggestions. She is almost 4 in May. A very sweet girl.

Try feeling under her vent. Like pick her up and gently massage and try and feel if she has a lump. If so she may be egg bound. Not sure how to help treat her. I am going through the same thing with my pullet right now actually. Not sure what that is eather. May be reproductive issues. @Eggcessive can help you I think!

Stop the baths. Place her on a warm towel instead. Get some human calcium citrate with vitamin D, see below for an inexpensive one, and give her one into her beak to swallow. Calcium can help if she is egg bound, or if she is trying to pass lash material. Is her tail position up or down? Is she eating or drinking? Is there any enlargement of her lower belly under her vent that might be fluid? Is she heavy or losing weight? What do her poops look like, and any pictures?

Tail is down, eating very little and i make her drink. I do have a calcium supplement in her water. She will take a few sips. Made one poop was mushy. Will check under her vent when i get home and post a picture. She was fine and started laying again. Seems about the same in size. A bunch of my hens molted just before winter so she is fluffy and her backside was fine. And then this.

Have her on a towel with a heating pad underneath on low. Below her vent feels swishy and she seemed to like the massage and tail went up for a bit but then back down.

Thanks. I feel bad for her bc she is in pain. Hope you hen gets better soon.

Can you give a human calcium tablet directly to her in her beak to swallow? She needs about 300-600 mg orally. Putting it in the water will not get it in her at the right dose quickly enough.
I dont have a tablet until
Tomorrow unless i can give her a soft gel.

She also is not making any noises chirps peep since she has been in the house. Strange, no?
