eggbound ??????

What do y'all do with a quail that has an egg bound ? how do you get it to pass?

I put mineral oil in the vent and it worked on the quail, but it isn't working on my hen.

Eggbound is where the hen gets the egg stuck in her vent and can not expel the egg. It can be very dangerous and the bird can die.

I was wondering how y'all cured egg bownd quail I'll bet I have found 25 differant ways & none sound all that great

What does a quail with this problem look like? How would I recognize the trouble?

They will be panting and pushing the vent out.


I finally got the egg out of my hen after about 2 hours last night.

I put her in a real warm bath and gave her massages. Put mineral oil in her vent. This is going to sound really bad, but.............. If you watch them AI a Rooster, I done the same thing to her which of course made her stick her butt in the air and she began pushing. I massaged her abdomen at the same time. I did that for about 2 hours.
