A little history... I have three hens, only two have been laying, and we get an egg per day, sometimes two a day . Some days, no eggs, but hey, it is winter, right?

So my DH and I were going to lay off the white lights, you know-let things go more naturally. We have a red (heat) light on a timer (I know, I know, they are spoiled), but last night the red bulb burned out so my DH put a white bulb in.

THis morning I came hime from work, and there were 5 eggs in the nest area, including a teal colored beauty from my EE (first egg for her)!!!!

Just thought I'd share...do what you think is best.

Yep, red light if you absolutely must add heat. White light for laying.

Red for heat, White for laying.

While I understood the premise, I only posted to illustrate what a huge difference the change in lights made. I was surprised.
