Eggplant...can they eat/like

My gals are getting the garden left behinds,,,stuff still hanging on in the heat that are too bitter for us...
I have some eggplants...can they have these seeing that they are nightshades ( my gals love tomatoes)
They also love my giant bitter cukes! My Jack Russell and RIP got into a fight to night over cuke...RIP took it right out of my dog's mouth!

yes, eggplant and tomato are in the nightshade family, they are not poisonous to humans. I looked on the treat chart and there is no info on eggplant. I think since it is squash-like and humans can consume it, it should be safe for chickens. I am no expert, but it seems logical.

I just fed my girls eggplants last night. They enjoyed them and are fine! HTH

Mine eat egg plant all the time... almost daily, had some every day for the past week or so with no ill effects.

I wouldn't expect eggplant to harm a chicken, but knowing how little nutrition of any sort it contains, I'm not sure I'd want to fill my girl's crops with it on a regular basis.

eggplant doesn't shine on vitamins but it has good minerals
