Chicken eggs are rocking at day 19. Does that mean they may come early or should I expect a day 21 hatch? I've hatched before but never had hatching early. I think my incubator has been running a little high not helped by humidity and weather so I'm sure that had some effect. Using dry hatch method if that provides insight.

Mine (silkies) just hatched two days early. They are now two days old when they should have hatched today. I do not dry hatch. There's no excuse for it but it happens.

If you think your incubator's temp is off, I'd suggest getting a thermometer/hygrometer as I'd be more shocked if you said your incubator was correct. We have three incubators and not one is right. I have about 5-6 Govee thermometer/hygrometers and love 'em. They usually have one version or another on sale on Amazon.

Yes I do have a number of digital thermometers/hygrometers in there which had helped me find the cooler and warmer spots of my very cheap Amazon incubator. So I guess I'll just sit on my hands and stare patiently 🤣

Good luck with your hatch.. what eggs are you dry hatching?

here's a chick pic to help keep you from going stir crazy while waiting...🤣

I know i've been going crazy looking at photos on here and on facebook of little babies in my group's. So long story short. I have a staggered hatch in the incubutor right now. I have about 18 eggs (LF cochin) that are on day 7 and then I have 3 that are backyard mix eggs that are on day twenty now.

Interesting... What humidity are you running and are you hand turning the other 18?
So I work from home so I am hand turning the rest. That's not a problem. There was a turner up until a certain point of lockdown. My house has been very humid because of the weather. So I haven't really done anything with the humidity as of right now. It's been about 45-50% without adding anything.

Anything under 30% during incubation I believe is called a dry hatch even if adding water to achieve that humidity. I run dry incubation on my Marans eggs but have to add water at lockdown.

Yeah, my issue is which was kind of unexpected is. I've dry hatched in the past without an issue with the humidity being lower. But I lived in a different house. I now live in a much older house and unbeknownst to me does not have very good insulation (being fixed in upcoming weeks) And now the house is very humid so i'm just trying battle that. Thank you for the information. I've always kind of set it and forget it and that worked out well but now I'm battling elements.
