My barred rock hen laid and hatched 3 chicks the end of June... She was a great mother the whole time and she didn't seem to molt at all afterwards... She just seems to be thinner now than before she went broody... I have her an one other egg layer, a Sussex, and we found 2 eggs in the box the last couple days but two of the eggs are weird looking and the shell looks like it has ripples... It was just this past week that she started separating away from her chicks... My question is could she be laying this early after having them and is it normal for their eggs to look abnormal at first?
