how long can eggs sit outside before they are bad? My husband has me out there at least 5 times a day looking for these eggs!! Are they alright for a few hours? I feel like the chicken warden.
Any help would be great. Thanks.

I only check for eggs once a day in the evenings and even when it has been hot outside thus making it hotter in the coop, I have never had a problem with eggs going bad.

Once a day is fine.

Remind your mother hen (hubby) chickens lay eggs till they have a clutch large enough to sit on . This may take up to 2 weeks. the first egg will hatch as well as the last laid and if it can make a chick it's perfectly fresh and edible..

Once a day is fine. Remind your hubby that a hen can lay an egg and not start to incubates it for as much as 7 days or more later. If it can stay good enough to be incubated and hatched, they are good enough to eat. We pick up our eggs once every evening. God has done a very good job at packaging eggs in such a way that they stay fresh a very long time.

Thanks everyone. Now I do not need to feel like a slave to the eggs!

Just don't forget to check their water about every 2 hours.... because if they run out they'll be a gooner in about 10 minutes (hehehehehe)
