Hello guys my eggs are fertilized and I was expecting to maybe have 6 or 7 new chickens but they just keep laying eggs so now I have about 23 fertilized eggs. Am I doing something wrong or is that just normal. How do I keep from having so many fertilized eggs? And what do I do with them? Thank you.

Hi there!

If you do not have a broody hen to sit on the eggs you will ned an incubator to hatch them.

Why not just eat them?
Just because they are fertile does not mean you can eat them.
Collect them daily and put them in the fridge to store until you are hungry.

If you have a roo, all your eggs will be fertile. It's up to you to incubate however many you want to have turn to chickens and then eat the rest.

What Kiki said. Fertile eggs will not develop unless incubated, and are fine to eat. Not all hens will go broody and incubate eggs. What breed of hens do you have ?

Fertile eggs are just as yummy as non fertile eggs. As you've already discovered, it takes a practiced eye to discern if an egg is fertile. However, I have a question for you. How do you know that an egg is fertile if you haven't cracked it open? Just because you have a roo, it does not necessarily mean that ALL of your eggs are fertile. If you are in the northern hemisphere, you are not likely to have a hen go broody this time of year. Broodiness is controlled by hormones, and some hens never go broody.
