Eggs Are Freezing!

I agree cut your # of boxes...I have two open now for 6 chickens and they all lay in one (except when there's an emergency). They are warm when I go to collect every day. Also I have a piece of an egg carton mattress cut to fit the bottom of each and keep them jam packed with straw. Make sure to keep adding layers of straw as it can get packed down. If I ever find a really cold egg I just mark it with a pencil dot and use it for baking instead of fresh eating.

Need info now. I have 4 production reds about 16 weeks old and Im almost out of starter?grower feed. Will it hurt to start them on layer feed two weeks early?

When we collect i would say that they use the first next box (closest to the door) 95% of the time and the one beside it the other 5%. They NEVER use the other two for some reason.

jim and carol and laura - i started some of my girls on layer a 6+ weeks (or more) early because the other ones who are 3 months older, had started to lay. So i don't see a problem. That's from my experience.
