Eggs are hatching..questions. problem.

One chick hatched. It didn't make it. Do you have any idea why? I looked at all the eggs. Two of 7 have cracks. I heard pipping from only 1 egg. Should I hear something in all of them??

It is really hard to say, the chick could've been to big for the shell, it could've been in the wrong position, could've been stick to shell, maybe temp and humidity lots of variables to what could've happened. Not all chicks pip on the same day nor do you hear peeping from all of them.

I have one chick that I know of now, a little reddish colored one. I hear peeping in a couple of eggs. Very exciting!

Just don't open the bator as long as there are any cracks (pips) in any of the shells. Babies will shrinkwrap.

I just looked under her and see 3 living babies, and what looks to be another one that had died. There are still 3 eggs left to hatch. Do you think it may perk up? Mama didn't let me do much investigating, so I really can't say with certainty it had died, but I am certain it wasn't lively like the other 3. I got a close look at one baby, a reddish baby with feathered feet and a darker red/brown dot on its head.

Do I cause fatal problems by looking under the broody during hatch time? I just heard the term shrink wrap yesterday....

We are on day 19. The first 2 hatched on day 18.

What happens to the eggs after hatching? I only found one. Does the mom eat it? I took it out, but now wonder if I should have left it alone.

4 chicks now. The other one did die. It had the yolk on it...ew..There are 2 eggs left under her. One is cracked and the chickie chirping; the other is not cracked and I don't hear anything. Sooo 4 chick babies out of 9 eggs so far (2 to go) I cracked one around week 1, didn't know I could use wax to save it (grrrr at myself for messing!) Two fully developed chicks have died.
