Finally, these eggs have been in the bater with some duck eggs, and recently after a storm, 2 robin eggs. Grandson woke me at 2:30am to tell me one of the pheasants had hatched. There are some others that have pipped, but so far this one is by itself. What's the best feed to get for them. I've read where chicken starter is good for pheasants, is that right. Have never been able to candle the pheasant eggs, but have been watching the duck eggs, and one had activity in it, and the others never developed, so I had hopes that the duck would hatch.

Try putting marbles or rocks in their water for the first few days. You can put feed on a small piece of cardboard or paper towel with something shiny for them to pick at, like a large paper clip or something too large for them to eat. Keep the brooder warm 95-100 degrees for at least the first week, then 90-95 degrees afterwards and allow them plenty of room to move towards or away from the heat lamp. Also, they do like to pick at small shavings, so make sure the shavings are't too finely shredded.
