Amazing Eggs: Busting the Cholesterol Myth

- Dietary Cholesterol Isn't Bound to Blood Cholesterol. There is little-to-no relation between dietary cholesterol and higher blood cholesterol levels, nor any legitimate link between dietary cholesterol and the incidence of heart disease.

Great Article about this and other egg misconceptions here

I eat 0-12 eggs aday--- and got rid of the typical processed foods like crackers, flours, and sugars. Wow, I have so much more energy. ANd sleep much better and have no afternoon slump. And my cholesterol runs about 170.

Poor eggs got the blame, , , but now we know better. Or at least a few of us do.

Yes, eggs from pastured hens are also higher in vit A and vit E.

What part of MA are you from? Sounds like you must have a good size farm!

NEar RI.

A small farm. Enough acreage to have a few animals. Including crowing roosters without neighbors complaining . . . so far.

My doctor had warned me off of eggs when he first heard we had chickens..
I had him run a blood test on me (I eat eggs every single day...)

he was shocked that my cholesterol levels were so low!..

every year he asks me if I am still eating eggs every day.. then shakes his head when he sees the results of my bloodwork.. the last time that I went in he FINALLY admitted that eating eggs isn't as bad for you as he had once believed.. it took him 9 years but he's a believer now..

Even before I did any research on alternative nutrition theories (low carb, paleo/primal, nourishing traditions, etc) I knew the whole "cholesterol you eat causes high blood cholesterol" think was bunk. I worked at a nursing home where we had five advanced dementia patients who were all on vegetarian diets "because their cholesterol is too high". Those patients did not eat anything the staff didn't put in their mouth, so there was no cheating on the diet. Even after years they still had cholesterol over 240. But, oh wait, high blood cholesterol doesn't necessarily indicate heart disease, either! None of them died of cardiac issues, and all were well into their 80s when they passed.

I've just decided mainstream nutrition is a total crock.
