Eggs are still kind of cold after getting them from mail, after 24 hours sitting in room temp should i wait more or put in incubator?

i never wait at all, you dont know how old they are or if they heated up and already started which is likely in summer in the mail ...id put them in .. waiting probably reduces viability not help it imo ..

I've heard of two reasons to wait a day to incubate shipped eggs. Eggs are sometimes shaken during shipping so waiting a day gives the eggs a chance to stabilize. Some eggs are shaken so badly that no amount of waiting will help them, they are ruined. Some eggs are not shaken that badly, they do not need to stabilize. Waiting 24 hours is an arbitrary effort to help those that have been shaken a certain amount and no more. Candling to look at air cells might give you a clue how badly they were shaken but I don't know how much benefit that is. What decisions are you going to make from that information?

If the eggs are cold when you put them in the incubator it is possible you could have condensation form on the eggs. Water like that could possibly weaken the protective layer of bloom which could allow bacteria to get inside the egg if bacteria is present.

The flip side is that you don't know how old they are or what conditions they have seen since being laid. It is possible they could be losing viability as you wait. There are a lot of things you don't know about those eggs. You don't know for sure is waiting will help more than it hurts but it has become a suggestion to wait a day as it is more likely to help more than it hurts.

In my opinion if they have been stored for a day at room temperature waiting longer is not going to help them to not collect condensation. By that time they should be at whatever temperature they are going to be. And any additional benefit in stability is probably nonexistent. They have stabilized as much as they are going to. Besides how shaken up are they going to get by turning? Not much.

I'd put them in and get them started.
