Eggs are too hard to crack open easily

Oh boy, after I've been cracking duck eggs for a few weeks, and then I go and crack a chicken egg... big, big mess, like an explosion. Duck eggs are really hard. I've taken to cutting into them with a butter knife; works well to avoid shells in the eggs.

This is how I boil my eggs, it works perfectly every time.

The shells on fresh eggs are tougher, but if she keeps with it she will figure out a technique that works for her. Also, as silkiechicken said, over time and with maturity the membranes may thin out some.
