My chickens are still laying despite the colder, darker days (well, some of them are, anyway) but they are no longer singing the egg song. Has anyone else experienced this?

It used to be that either the hen that laid the egg, or another hen that was nearby, or both, would start out with the egg song and then they'd do a sort of call and response with our rooster, and sometimes other hens would pitch in too. Now they just lay in silence!

Hens attract roosters for reasons of procreation and if a hen is unable to attract a rooster when she wants or needs a rooster, she will actively search out a rooster to father her chicks.

As was said in the classic flick Jurassic Park "Life will find a way"
