Hello all, I have two hens. One hatched 8 healthy babies her sister only sat on one egg and it didn’t hatch out. She had pecked it so I looked at it and it didnt have a chick in it so I took the egg. She’s still broody so I got her some store bought chicks and put beside her and after an hour nothing. She finally got up and tried aggressively pecking one and charged the rest. So I got them back out after she continued to ignore them and put them in the brooder to keep them safe. How can I help her? She’s eating and drinking and hasn’t lost much. I just wanna help her but getting her baby chicks didn’t work. 🙃

The correct way to introduce chicks to a broody hen, is to wait till its dark, and then slip them under her.
If you just put them next to her, she doesn't realise that they are hers, so attacks them.
You could still try this, but be ready to intervene if it doesn't work.
If it doesn't, you should probably try breaking her of it, by keeping her out of the nest; and raising the chicks yourself.
Best of luck, and welcome to BYC!
