Eggs disappeared from under broody hen?

So sad! Poor hen
I had this happen a couple of times-it ended up being a skunk. He got goose and chicken eggs as well as baby chicks before I caught him.

That is a possibilities. We do have skunks around. Although there were no remains to be found.

:(
My broody hen has been sitting on eggs for 21 day. Yesterday I checked and there were three eggs that had pipped and had small holes in them. This morning I went out expecting some to have hatched, and they were all gone. Every egg disappeared from her nest. I checked everywhere for any residue and there is nothing. It is heartbreaking to me. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or has any ideas on what happened?

:( Sad to hear.

It is possible the other chickens ate them.
If you have ever seen a chicken eat a mouse, you would not doubt it.
Maybe if you have a trail camera you could disern if other things are getting in your coop or not.
That could be a possibility. She is one of the bigger hens though, so I’m surprised that she couldn’t protect any of them.

I have tried to use a trail camera, but whatever happens in my chicken run happens where the camera is not pointed, as luck would have it. I'm still so sad for the babies and the little mama hen who patiently sat on them for so long.

I feel bad for you and sad for her. The symbiotic relationship requires care from both of you and if it hurts you, one must believe it does her as well.
Remember, scientists have stated even plants feel pain.
