Eggs don't grow closed, but have a hole at the pointy end

A neighbor stopped by yesterday and told us he has cinnamon sexlinks and turkeys which lay eggs that don't close. There is a little hole in the point end of the egg. He has other chickens that are fine and feeds the same layer feed to all (and is the same local brand that we use.)

What would cause these holes? Thank you.

Thank you for that idea. I will ask him. We do have some calcium added to the layer feed, so if they get extra, that might be the explanation.
