At the auction three weeks ago I bought 42 Americauna and Buff Orpington eggs. This is my first time hatching. I had them in a homemade incubator for the first few days until I could pick up my Hovabator, where they've been since then. So, they're due to hatch today. I had one egg go rotten, and lost one (the shell cracked when I removed them from the turner). I opened up the one I lost and they are developed properly (or at least it looks that way to me). My concern is that I've heard lots about seeing the eggs move, which I haven't, and hearing the chicks peep, which I can't-at least not over the Hova fan if they are. None of them have pip'd. Should I be concerned?

I guess I'm just impatient and theyre a bit if a late hatch. Two hatched last night and a few more are shaking around.

Ok, so I'm going to have to get the oldest chicks out soon. Two more are zipping and two are pip'd. How do I get the older chicks out without messing with the ones trying to hatch?

It isn't a bad idea to spritz the inside walls and bottom of the incubator with warm water if you have to open while eggs are pipping
