Eggs!! Eggs!!Eggs!! We have Eggs!!

Finally!! That was the longest 20 weeks of my life!
Almost to the day of the 20 week mark we got our first 2 eggs Sunday with 2 more today.
One was almost double the size of the other on the first day.
Today's are the same size.

Oh they're pretty! And such smart girls, to lay them in the nests.

What breeds of hens do you have?

Ok!!! Those are nice!!! I'm thinking about starting the soup pot!!! 19 of my flock are now at the 24-25 week mark!!!

I have 10 Redstar hens. They are my first chickens. I wish I had mixed in different breeds Now that I see so many choices
on this web site. Or... I could just add on in the spring.

Oh definitely, add more in the spring. You might as well come even further into the Coop Zone.

The large one was a double yolker! And it was Yummy!
Yesterday we got 5 eggs so 1/2 are laying.

Oh, how eggciting! I was thrilled when I FINALLY got my first and just as excited when I go into the coop and find 6-7 beautiful brown eggs..I don't think it's ever something you get tired of--enjoy!


cnj--don't give up! I only had one girl that laid at 25 weeks old, the other brown egg layers (RIR, BR, BO) didn't start until they were 27 weeks old!! I have Ameraucanas that are 31weeks old and EE that are 27weeks old and I haven't gotten my first egg...
