Ahhh...been there, done that
I had an EE that started laying at 21 weeks (her lazy 21 old sisters waited till 26 weeks!). She would only lay on the coop floor in the shavings...and near the feeder yet! Talk about a traffic area
When the next age group of girls first checked out the nesting boxes for the first time, that EE kept yelling the egg song. It was funny. Later that afternoon, 4 new layers (again at a little over 21 weeks) used the boxes...and the EE used the coop floor
But the next day, her egg was there right next to the Dominiques and BA- yeah. Hopefully, your girl will find the nest soon. If not on her own, then when another chicken begins to lay. Oh yeah, this is what my girls did with the fake eggs in the boxes.....
I gathered the scattered fake eggs up, and have not had to use them since. And the birds will often lay 3 eggs in the same nest withing a 2-3 hour period. They seem to like the same ones!
