Hi everyone,

Two of my chicks hatched yesterday. One needed an assisted hatch last night and is dozing off right now. The other is much healthier, and was walking around the incubator the moment he(or she) got out. However, he(or she) is kicking the remaining eggs around right now, and I had a question: Is that natural? Also, my less healthy one had the bottom of her shell attached for the night, but is still wet right now. When is she going fluff up?

Yes, they like to play soccer. They take around 24 hrs to fluff up if not more. Mine hatched last night and it’s still wet 8-12 hrs later.

One chick is getting bullied, but is still wet. How should I protect him (or her)?

I wait until they're dry and put then in the brooder. They usually fluff up in a few hours after I move them, probably because there's less humidity. They do unfortunately move eggs around. I try to not let that happen personally but a lot of people say it doesn't affect the eggs much

The chick is sitting on top of the other's neck.

if they’re both newly hatched I wouldn’t think they’re bullying on purpose. They’re barely learning how to walk and they sleep a lot. Maybe tap on the incubator glass to get their attention and hopefully they’ll move.
