Hi!
I have a 3-4 year old blue Orpington hen... Her name is Big Heifer. She used to lay large brown eggs, in the last 4-6 months I’ve been getting a large-XL almost white egg.
As for feed she gets:
Layer pellets/mash
Scratch feed (which includes grains, corn, wheat, etc. it is also fed as more of a treat)
Free ranging (at least 4 days a week)

She lays maybe 5-6 days of the week.

Is there a problem or is it just with age??

Here she is! (This was taken last year during mid-molt)

Thanks everyone!

I have this exact issue with one of my hens. She restarts laying after brooding and the eggs are light brown and then soon start coming out almost white. In fact several of my chickens now lay paler shelled eggs than they used to but I never could figure out why. The eggs are still perfectly fine and the girls are healthy and happy so I stopped questioning it. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has noticed this though!

Hopefully our hens’ egg colors come back after molt :fl
