I am incubating eggs for the first time. I found my guineas nest of 37 eggs in the woods and moved her (since she was sitting) and the nest to a coop to keep them safe. She refused to sit on the nest once I had moved it. So after a week I released her an dput the eggs in an incubator. I knew that many were old so I was hoping for 6 keets. At 7 days I candled and could not see anything. I was dissapointed but kept them in the incubator for another 7 days and candled again. At that time I saw movement in 2 eggs and 3 others looked similar without actual movement.
Finally at 21 days I candled and broke open the ones that had no signs of development. One had a pea sized keet in it the rest just looked like a regular egg with nothing going on.
Tomorrow is lockdown on 5 guinea eggs. All five had movement in them when I checked at 21 days. I'm excited and nervous. So far it has mostly gone like clockwork, the air cells have expanded as they should, the temp has remained consistent and the humidity has averaged what it should.
I'm nervous about hatching and hope everyone makes it out all right! They will all be plain ol pearl grey guineas but we will love them!
