So...the hen that has gone broody, for what I thought was 2 weeks, turns out to have hatched her two eggs I let her have this morning. She's in the laying house with the rest of the flock (7 hens and one roo). Also, she's in a nesting box inside the laying house.

My questions are:
Should I let her raise them in the laying house?

Should I seperate the chicks with their mother, from the rest of the flock?

Will I need a brooder light if she raises them?

Thanks

If you let the hen raise the chicks you don't need a heat source. I put chicken wire in a corner of the coop and put the hen in there with her eggs the chicks are now 2 1/2 weeks old and doing great. Put chick starter and a chick waterer in there and Momma will take care of the rest.
Several times a chick has escaped from this set up but none of the other hens has hurt a chick. When I go in I raise up the wire and the chick runs right back to mom

I'll probably remove the chicken wire in another week or two. Main reason I have it there at this point is to keep the adults from eating all the chick food lol
