Eggs hatching soon for broody hen

We have an Americana/ Bhrama mix whose eggs have started to hatch. We went out this morning and the chick that has hatched was dead in the box. We are unsure of why it died, any suggestings? Some of the others have started to try and poke their way out. Should we bring the chicks in after they hatch so they don't follow in the first chicks footsteps or let the mama keep them?
