Eggs have a shiny substance on them...

Any ideas what is on my eggs? I have 5 chickens and they all lay in the same nest. This stuff was on 3 of them today. Its very smooth, not sticky and dry like fingernail polish.
I feed them a mixture of Scratch and Peck Organic Feed and Non Soy Non GMO Chicken feed from the feed store (Texas made). They are in a chicken yard 80% of the day and free range in the backyard the other 20%.

My girls are 6 months old (Australorp, Cochin and Wyandotte).

It is likely the bloom or cuticle. That is a protective coating the hens apply after shell and pigment are applied. It keeps bacteria out of the egg after it dries which should only take seconds.

I would guess another egg in the nest cracked, and that egg is covered in yolk

Bloom is normal, your girls are "newbies" to laying so likely a glitch that will work it's self out. It's also possible that an egg cracked & got gobbled up but more likely bloom.

That was my first thought.
Could be excessive bloom tho too.
