eggs have not pipped yet ??

hi so this is my second time incubating and i have seven chicken eggs in lock down it is day 19 and i woke up this morining and they humidity was at 55 i put more water and now its at 63 is this why they have not pipped yet i heard tapping but no pips i know its still alittle early thanks everyone

Me too. I have managed to get the candling from every four minutes (well, daily then!) to just three times....day 7ish, day 14ish and on lockdown...and after lockdown, I have got my 'have they pipped yet?' checking down to only every half hour!!!

We have transitioned over to silkies to brood ours, but when we used to incubate...
It was a family event. We would all stand over the brooder hoping to see one come out.
My neice happened to look in on one as he zipped his way out. It took only minutes, and that ruined everyone. We all try to capture that magical 5 minutes.

Day 19 is the earliest I have any hatch. 20 is more likely, and 21 is the target.
Give it time, you are a little anxious. Can you hear any peeping? You should be able to hear it through the shell.

Same here....but just me and hubby. We get so disappointed if we miss that final push!

They can take a day or even two to get from the internally pipped stage (which is what you are hearing with the tapping) to the externally pipped stage, and even then they can take 24 hours to start unzipping. I've had quail not ready to hatch until 36 hours after they externally pipped (I've jumped in too early to 'help' only to find live veins). So patience really is a virtue when it comes to waiting on the little ones!

@happyhens1972 I too am guilty of far too frequent candling, right up to the internally pipped stage, but it has never affected my quail, or the few eggs we let our broodies hatch that were candled daily. Out of 45 quail eggs recently incubated only two died late in the game. I think the fact they are my own fresh eggs going in makes a difference though. I'd have to tie my hands behind my back if I ever incubated shipped eggs!

thanks everyone it is hard to wait i find my self looking for pips every couple hours im really exited one of my eggs in lock down is one from the same chicken egg i put in my last batch and it was not fertile but this time it is and on day 18 when i candled it had movement so really happy about that thanks everyone for your post's i will keep you posted
