Eggs in incubator 8/22. Anyone else putting eggs in?

I did mine again too... I know, sit on hands, sit on hands... just can't do it!
Four of the five definitely have something going on in there! There's a black spot (which after some research I think might be the eye?) that moves around in the yolk.

Definite air sac and veining. So excited! This is my first hatch, so I'm amazed that there's only one not doing well. It's a darker brown egg, though, so maybe it's ok and I just can't see through it that well? I put some others in later, but right now they aren't showing anything (only day 3).

How is everyone else's doing? How about all of you that were hit by Irene? I hope they're little fighter chickies and doing just fine! I'll keep my fingers crossed!

We should all post pics of our little ones once they hatch!

Well I checked my remaining 19 eggs, from my original 20. (I pulled one 4 days ago since it was not fertile at all)

Now I am new to this, and this is my first time trying to hatch eggs. Did some research on candling and what to look for. And if I am correct. I still have 18 of my 19 going strong. 6 of the eggs are hard to see cause they are Americanua's with a dark shell. But I can still see veins, and you can see something moving. Just can't get a clear shot at size.

But I have alot of active eggs right now, I would be close to my candler not even on it yet. And I would already be able to see the chicken moving around about 6inches from the candler. The one gave my wife and I a great show dancing all around.

Hi all! We've moved and have no internet at home, i"ve been going through BYC withdraw! At my last update I said we'd lost power for about 5 hours and they eggs were down to about 75 degrees. Yesterday I did a quick candle and seems as if no harm was done - of the 12 shipped eggs I candled 7 were bouncing around, a few were clear and some others were questionable. *Sigh* if only those darn marans eggs would show something, lol! The 'Billy'Bator is stabilized at 100 degrees, in the next few days i'll get some water in there to raise the humidity.
Glad to see everyone is doing well, we're in the home stretch!

Did the 10 day candle... I've got 4 viable eggs. It appeared at least 7 of the other 8 had yolks which were broken in transit. Good to know which packing method doesn't work well.

But 4 viables are better than none! So

and their weights look good! They are losing the correct amount of moisture. Now to leave them all alone for another 7 days.

Glad to hear everyone elses eggs are doing better than mine!

Holy humidity! I got the temperature stabilized in the 'Billy'Bator hatcher, and yesterday added some open water containers to work on the humidity. Today when I checked, it was 96% Ack! That's a little high, so out came the containers with the sponges sticking out of them, leaving two plain containers. There was moisture all over the window and walls, I couldn't see into the glass and the inside caulking was peeling off! We'll see what it is tomorrow, but that's a bit more than the 75% I'm aiming for, lol!

I think my humidity must be too low as the air sacs on my eggs are huge, either that or my temperature is too high. Problem is, I have an rcom mini 3 egg incubator and its supposed to do humidity and temperature automatically. It SAYS its at 37 degrees celcius (yep, I'm UK) but I have no way of checking.
Bought a mini digital thermometer and hydrometer? online 2 days ago to check its right.....HURRY UP AND ARRIVE ALREADY!!!!
I actually have 2 rcom mini's and this one feels hotter when I touch the lid, than the other one does. I just hate when things don't do what they say on the box! Just had a failed hatch in the cooler one, one of 6 banty eggs made it to lockdown, then the chick tried to internally pip at the opposite end to the air sac so suffocated in the egg, I've no idea why it didn't turn round. Sorry for rambling, its been a tough day.

In at our big box pet stores (petco and petsmart) they sell small, large-coin sized thermometers and hydrometers... while the probe from a digital thermometer could fit inside for temperature, you might want to try something like this for humidity. http://www.petco.com/product/8193/P...px?CoreCat=MM_ReptileSupplies_HumidityControl I'd be sure to calibrate it, but it wouldn't take up too much space. I love using the probe on my thermometer - I stick it right next to an egg and leave it be!

How do you calibrate them if you can't tell the temperature which is why you bought them? How do you actually know that they are right?
The one I'm waiting for is really tiny, not much bigger than a 2 pence piece over here, and does temp and humidity in one.
The problem I have is that both my rcoms say that they are at 37 degrees celcius but one feels noticeably hotter than the other.

Yay, have put new batteries in my torch and can finally see in my eggs, one looks to have quit as the veins are getting less clear and the darkness is more blobby looking and I have 3 very healthy wrigglers!!! YAY!!!!!!!!
