Eggs in incubator 8/22. Anyone else putting eggs in?

Got a wet fuzzy butt!! Looks like a black Orp!

added at 10:47: Two wet fuzzy butts! They aren't sticky either. Pshew! One more pipped egg to go, and hopefully the last one will do something soon... kinda worried - that last egg is the one I thought began development in transit, yet there is no activity on hatching.

6 eggs still chirping, 2 have pips now. I'm trying hatching in cartons, however I miss getting to watch the rockin n rollin.

My incubator was down at 51% this morning, I got some water on some paper towel quickly, and my pipped chick hatched fine this afternoon.

Thanks! The temporary low humidity doesn't seem to have caused any problems!! good to know.

Got 3 chickies out -- all blue (i think) but ignore the black comment above - wet blue kinda looks black, yes?

The egg which seemed to develop early, died in the shell and had some icky bacteria growth going on. So glad it never exploded!!

I did end up helping one chickie out - he was the first to pip and bore the brunt of the low humidity. The membrane seemed real tough to me, so I helped some and allowed him to finish coming out. Guess I'll find out in the next couple of days if helping was ok.

once they all fluff up a bit, I'll take some pictures.

1 barnyard surprise chick hatched today and another is on its way out. I was super bummed because when I candled these last 6 they were all developed but not moving, I thought I lost them in the flood. Then the two barnyards pipped and I figured I had lost the other 4 - but YAY! I put these two in two days BEFORE the others, not two days AFTER like I had in my head. Excitement should continue tomorrow!

Well that is not going to work. Maybe drill a hole out for your next incubation, that way it is there if you need.

Even though I hate this incubator design when all said and done, I have learned alot from it. It was helpful so now I know what I want to build. I know the things I like, and dislike. But I will not be using a cooler again, that is for sure.

Anarchy - what do you dislike about your cooler? I made one out of a coleman cooler and LOVE it - No turner yet so its just my hatcher, but its easy to clean, easy to regulate humidity and the temperature does not budge. I put in a large container of water with a dish towel in it under the computer fan. By the end of lockdown I'm out of water, but the humidity stays up near 80% which is more than enough.
