eggs in incubator show no signs of life in day 22.

Hi. on day 18 one egg pipped a hole in the egg and i thought it was going to hatch, but 24 hours later no movement so i took it out and opened and inside was a fully grown chicken dead. i don't know why it didn't hatch. Now the other 5 eggs on day 22 have not moved or pipped a hole and i am getting a bit worried since my first lot were cooked in the incubator. This time i have monitored the temperature and everything seems ok. When the incubator got a bit too hot i opened it to cool a bit. After fiddling around with the setting i think the temperature is fine. i even bought a thermometer and put it in so i could double check the reading. The incubator turned the eggs automatically until day 18 then i took them off the cradle .How can one egg be ready to hatch and not the others. I read in your forums that eggs move . Well mine don't. i almost feel like opening one up to see if its alive, but will it die if i do.

The motor on some turners can add extra heat and make someeggs in close proximity develop faster.

I personally wouldnt open them. Not before day 25. You can take 1 out breifly to candle and see if you can see an internal pip or hear cheeping.

Patience, give the eggs a few more days

If it were me I'd candle them to check for movement and internal pipping. Also hold it to your ear to listen for clicking/tapping or any noises really.

Were they locked down in the same orientation as they incubated? Are they shipped?
