Eggs in the Homemade Incubator - 1st attempt failed, 2nd attempt

I find sponges better for raising humidity than cups of water.

GOOD LUCK... almost there:thumbsup

Hi. I am in lockdown and tomorrow is day #21. Nothing much happening so far. It took me a full day to get my humidity up. I finally had to add 2 soggy sponges and a soggy wash cloth (I ran out of sponges) in addition to filling the reservoirs. Now my humidity is holding steady ~60%. I am so excited. I hope to wake up to a chick in the morning. It would be like Christmas!

Keep me posted on how your next few days go.

Thank you backyard farm I'll have to try sponges. I put about 4 cups of water in there, my gauge is reading 75% humidity!!

Best of luck SportChick. I'm sure everything will be good. Can't wait to hear the good news from you.

Friday will be 21 days for me.

I'm making my own incubator and I find all of this information VERY interesting and helpful. I am also looking for that same exact hygrometer thermometer for my incubator and I think I'm going to have to order it offline. I like it because it's simple and looks good. I'll be following this topic.

I have a chick! One of my Barred Rocks. S/He pipped during breakfast, about 6:30 and has been chirping all day. He finally zipped and hatched at about 3pm. So cute. Wreaking havoc with all the other eggs.
