so we collected our eggs buttt forgot them on the deck for maybe 5 or 6 hours.. are they ok to eat or should we toss them? Ty

Likely they are just fine as long as they weren't in direct sun. Eggs can be stored at room temperature for about 7 weeks. In Europe, eggs are not refrigerated or washed to allow the natural bloom to prevent bacteria from entering.

If in doubt, float test in a cup of water. If egg floats to top, toss.

Also with doubtful eggs, crack open into a separate bowl before adding to dish. Always cook thoroughly.

Is it hot where you are?

Nahhhh.
Floating an egg will only tell you how old it might be.
They float due to evaporation when older.
It will not tell you if an egg is 'good' or 'bad'.
Plus then you've wetted the egg so it should be thoroughly washed and refrigerated.

Yea!
When in doubt....
Open eggs one at a time in a separate dish before adding to pan or recipe,
use your eyes, nose, and common sense to decide if egg is OK to eat.
