I've just (over the weekend) ordered 3 x 6 leghorn eggs through e-bay. The first lot arrived safely this morning and are going to have to wait for the others to arrive. I know I have to let them rest for 24+ hrs, rounded end up, before going into the incubator. Looking at some of them I'm blowed if I can tell which it is!! Is is better for them to be on their side (as in the nest) rather than the wrong way up completely?????

Try going in a dark room with a small flash light holding it to one end see if you can find which has the air cell. You want that end up! Hope this helps

If there is no round end / pointy end, and you can't see an air cell yet, it's just as good to lay them on their side to rest.

I get an occasional egg that I just can't tell and have started incubating them laying sideways in the egg cup til an air cell is visible.

Good luck,
Lisa

I've got four complete ovals! Thanks for the advice.

I've just put my 3 week chicks out into the garage (with their heat lamp) and I feel I've sent them off to school - see you at lunch time - :| . The house feels a bit empty! Need to get that incubator going again!!
