He was a very nice guy, not sure if it was Wes, but I really enjoyed my talk with him. He is actually a neighbor of my Father-in-law's brother. I thought his name was Tom. When I brought up BYC, he said he got banned after he said he "loves his birds, all the way to the oven." I would have gladly come to his aid on that issue. Anyway the guy I bought mine from raises 1200-1500 poults per year and has a slew of sportsman incubators he keeps running non-stop with turkeys, pea fowl, and pheasants.

Cool thing is, TODAY I GOT MY FIRST TURKEY EGG!

Left my phone (camera) at work in my office, so pics will have to wait until tomorrow.

Carol, Where are you finding this information? When a hen is laying an egg she is on the nest for a short time, not enough to bring a cluctch of eggs layed up to incubation temp. The nest is cold, the eggs are cold - it takes time to bring that to 99.5. In any egg other than reptiles if it starts to grow and stop it dies. If it is true that eggs hatch one hour later per day then a clutch of eggs would still hatch within a 24 hour period, but I have a hard time with that, since when a hen starts to sit all the eggs are started at the same time

Hey Beatrice, Am I hearing skepticism before investigation? Try google. It’s a great tool if you know how to use it. Try "compensation of cell death in egg storage" or "optimal turkey egg storage conditions" or "preincubation storage hatching eggs".​

I checked with the turkey hatching guy I got my birds from last year; and he says he stores his up to 30 days in the frig and quotes a 90% hatch rate. I can't wait!

I think we'll check them until we find bullseyes. Pretty egg. Whiter, pointy end, fine dark brown rust colored speckles.

The funny thing is that when I was wondering about when my chickens would start laying eggs, I posted in the egglaying section, and within a day or so they started layin. Pheasants started laying 2 weeks after I asked, and now my turkeys start laying right after I ask.

Katy, you might want to create a post asking when your birds will start laying. Worked for me. Just sayin'.

Now I need to figure out who is laying them.

All I know is that I had a hen that laid and hatched 14 eggs by herself. So I know that at least half of those eggs were over a week old with the oldest being two weeks old. She had 100% hatch too! Probably the exception rather than the rule but I know for a fact that they can hatch at well over a week old.
